This past month I have realized that I am having to look a bit harder at everything. I mean….I am already supposed to wear glasses because I have an astigmatism in both of my eyes. In a nutshell, I do not see the fine details in things, and never really have. I have glasses, but I refuse to wear them, mainly because I can see just fine. Except at night, well…., all of the lights look like stars.🤩 In reality, that is the only issue I have ever really had. Until now. That is, now….I am squinting, and having to pull some things away from me just a bit to make out what I am looking at.

Last week was time for the girls eye appointments. I completely forgot that they do mine at the same time. Good thing we live super close to the dr. 😄😃 This time they didn’t have to dilate our eyes. They did this eye mapping thing to my eyes. Which was really neat. The girls did really well without dilation. They did say that the next appointment that the girls would have to have their eyes dilated. They were kind of bummed about that news.

They went through the motions of checking the girls eyes first. Both of them did great. They are both a touch far sighted, but if they are not having any problems with it, then they are fine for now. Then it was my turn. They did this thing called Opto Map. It is where they map the inside of your eye. With this test they look for macular degeneration, retinal holes, retinal detachments, hypertension and diabetic retinopathy. Basically a ton of stuff that can go wrong. But it didn’t cost but $30, so why not. It looks for the signs of a ton of things, and you know without spending a fortune, if you have any signs of those problems, just by looking into your eyes. I think that is pretty neat, if I do say so myself.

After the mapping, I had to go and have my eyes tested. I was completely honest and told them that I do not wear my glasses, even though I have a RX for one. I just refuse to wear them. But……now…… I am starting to be on the struggle boat, and I am realizing that I am turning 40 in the next couple of months. After my exam was finished, she said that she completely agrees with me. I do need glasses, but it is not that bad. That my numbers have not changed much from last time. That was a plus in my book. The only thing is now, I will have to actually wear my glasses for different things. It’s kind of a bummer, but I am ok with it. It is not the end of the world. I am alive. I get to wake up every day and see my husband and beautiful girls. Our moochie, Katelyn, and our hamsters…… Yes… Now we have two. I will make a post about that story soon. 🤪
