As I am sitting here, drinking my iced coffee and looking out the window at the beautiful day that we have been blessed with, I have a billion thoughts rushing through my mind. Here is just a small portion of what is going on upstairs at the moment:

  • I pray that I was able to get the girls to school this morning in a way that it encourages a positive outlook for the day.
  • Ugh, I need to fold the laundry
  • Yeppers, the bathrooms need to be cleaned.
  • Don’t forget to change out the end of the dusting wand, and get the house dusted today.
  • Oh, yea, Lil miss has softball practice today. Well she is sitting out, but still has to go.
  • Make a mental note, go through the girls clothes soon and get rid of things they can’t or do not wear.
  • Make sure to call the doctor so they can send in a refill for monthly medications.
  • The girls need a bit more storage and organization items for their bathroom and bedrooms… look on amazon later to see what they have.
  • I need to call the eye doctor for my father-in-law.
  • Get it together, you need to get the laundry caught up.
  • Vacuums the upstairs, and dust too
  • Did I update payment for the Food for Hungry donations?
  • I pray that I can be the wife and mother that my family needs me to be today!

That is just a couple of the things that are racing through my mind as I try to take a moment for me. In taking this me time, I will also be taking time to spend with the Lord.

God wants us to take time for him. We have to daily make the choice to be intentional. To decide that we are going to spend time with him. I heard something on the radio, and I honestly can not remember who said it, but it stuck with me.

“What do you think would happen if you talked to God as much as you talk to yourself.

Can you imagine……..

Now think about it! In your mind, you talk to yourself, and have thoughts literally all day long. What if you turned those random thoughts into a prayer, or just conversation and time with our Savior.

In the Bible, Matthew 6:33 of the King James Version says: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

James 4:8 of the King James Version says: Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you, Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

When you are seeking the kingdom of God, are you not praying and studying the word? In Matthew and in James they both talk about God wanting you spend time with Him. The more time you spend in prayer and studying the word of God, the closer relationship you will have with him.  Think about these two verses a little more.

In Matthew it is talking about seeking the kingdom of God. Praying, studying, building a relationship with God. It says seek His kingdom, and it will be added to you. Are you truly spending time with Him? How much time do you give Him, out of your day? What are you needing? What are you praying for? Are you praying a general prayer for His will to be done in your situation? Are you being specific in what you are praying for?

In James it says to “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you”. You will  draw closer to God by spending time in prayer, studying, being under his word and worship, and he will draw closer to you. Give Him your time and He will draw closer to you.

I can only imagine how it must bring joy to God when we intentionally want to spend time with him. Believe me, being a busy mom and having what seems to be a million things going on, I know how hard it can be to intentionally take a little time to spend in the word. But think about this! How much more will it benefit your life, if you give 10 minutes of your day, than if you give nothing. The enemy wants nothing more that to pull you away from what the word of God says, and make you believe the things of this world.

I challenge you!

Spend today being intentional. Instead of the random thoughts, when one comes into your mind, thank God for something. Talk to Him about your situation. Pray about that situation. Pray for our world. When you spend today being intentional with your thoughts, see how it changes your day. See if you are any closer to that breakthrough you have been looking for. Please let me know how this challenge has helped you this week.

My prayer for you…..

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today to thank you for this beautiful day! To thank you for waking us up another day and using us to be a light for this world. I pray that you forgive us of our sins, both the sins we are aware of and the sins that we are unaware that we have done. I pray for the Holy Spirit to cover this day and this week and pour into our lives. I pray, Father that you open our hearts to forgive those who have hurt us and for giving us the ability to ask for forgiveness from those who we may have hurt in any way. I thank you for those who you have brought to this page to read this post. I pray that they are blessed in their coming and going. I pray dear Heavenly Father that you bring to remembrance to them, that you want part of their time. Help them to be intentional with their time. Give them grace where they need it and be with them in their walk with you. Every christian is in a different place in their walk with you, and I pray that they continue to press in to you. That each person is intentional for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen!
