I like to try new things. It is sometimes a good thing. Several years ago my husband and I were talking, and he told me he knew how to crochet. I was surprised, happy and curious all at the same time. He shared a really sweet story of how he took care of his grandmother before she passed. While taking care of her, she thought him how to crochet. I think that is super sweet, and neat at the same time. I asked him if he would mind teaching me, and he did!?
I have tinkered with crocheting over the years and I love it. It is so relaxing. Several years ago I started a blanket, and I just put it to the side and didn’t get it finished. I guess being super new at it, I was easily discouraged. That, and I noticed that the blanket started gradually getting bigger. Haha.
I decided to just go ahead and take that blanket apart, and start all over and start fresh. With this blanket I have decided to do something a little different. I have decided to make a “Prayer” blanket. With this blanket, for every stitch that I crochet; I am praying. Since I am making this blanket for my husband, everything that I am praying is for him. This blanket has become very special to me. It is taking a long time to finish. Haha. One reason is that I do not want him to see me working on it, so I can’t work on it all the time. Another reason is we have two very active girls who love to go everywhere and do everything.
Here is a sneak peek of what I have done so far…….
I am so excited to get it finished and see his reaction. It may not be perfect, but it is made with love and prayer! By far the longest project I have ever tried to accomplish. But with a good bit of patience I will get it finished. With this blanket, I have used several types of stitches. I will post the finished blanket, as soon as I have finished… Wish me luck on finishing it! I would LOVE to get it finished by his birthday!
